The sworn translation process

Many clients ask me about the process for obtaining a sworn translation. Below you can find the steps to follow.

Firstly, you will need to send me a copy of the documents to be translated as the price and the delivery date will vary according to the particulars of each document.

You should not send the original documents, an image of them will suffice. However, it is recommended that you send a scanned image, as the law requires that a copy of the original document be attached to the printed translation and a photograph would probably not produce the desired result, as it would be too dark.

After seeing the documents you want to translate I will send you a quote. This quote will include the price and an approximate delivery date. Acceptance of the quote implies acceptance of the terms and conditions specified in the relevant section of this website.

The delivery date will be approximate. If you need your translation urgently I do offer an express service with a guaranteed delivery date for digital copies (short documents are usually delivered within 24 hours). If you have ordered an express service and the delivery date is not met, you will get your money back.

If you wish to accept the quote and proceed with the translation you will need to make the payment, which will always be in advance. I will not start the translation until the payment has been received, so the delivery date could be affected in the case of delayed payments.

The payment can be done by card, Bizum or Revolut. Once received, I will send you an invoice in which the relevant amount will be shown as paid. The invoice is a legal document that serves as a proof of the contract. If you need a full invoice please provide the relevant details, otherwise, I will send you a simplified invoice (if the law permits).

From here I will start translating your document as soon as possible. I always try to do the translation myself, however, sometimes the translation will be done by a colleague due to a high number of bookings. Nonetheless, the translation will always be done by a Sworn Translator appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, so you can be confident it will have the same validity.

Regarding the delivery of the translation, I will send you a digital copy by email or WhatsApp, electronically signed, which is nowadays accepted by most authorities. I will also send you a hard copy if needed. Hard copies are subject to an additional charge of 10% of the final price (with a minimum charge of 15 EUR) which includes non-urgent delivery within Spain.

I believe this is everything that you might need to know, but if you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact me. You can find more information in the terms and conditions, in the FAQ and on the prices page.

Thank you very much for your attention.
